Experience
I am currently a student and work in the Communications department with Film and Media. I work as an editor in the writing center of the college as well. I first started tutoring when I was in elementary school, helping my classmates with their schoolwork. This then lit the spark for volunteering at other schools and libraries and tutoring others in reading and writing. I really enjoy having that moment when they understand or finally realize something that they may have been struggling with before. It's rewarding to help and to know that I am making a difference. In 2014 I started tutoring professionally and now help students prepare for SAT and ACT exams, and also reading and writing. I have tutored U.S. History, Spanish, and Biology as well. I try to tailor my tutoring depending on each individual student because not every person will know the same material, or learn the same way. I deduce if a student is visual, verbal, or a hands-on-learner, and from there try to incorporate the most effective learning styles into our tutoring sessions. In my free time, I like screenwriting, film production, dancing, taking yoga, being involved in theater, and spending time with my parakeet, Poof.
